The host team was attacking from the very first minute of the match. Although Wisła created the first goal-scoring opportunity when Paweł Brożek passed the ball to Małecki who missed Bledzewski by only a few inches, it was the host team who took the initiative. In the 15th minute, Arka was awarded six corners, each creating quite a commotion in a crowded penalty area.

Dariusz Pasieka was continuously encouraging the Arka footballers to continue their attacks on Wisła and then to quickly return to their defence positions. However, this strategy proved physically demanding for Arka players, who began losing their speed in just half an hour of the game. Wisła took the initiative and was creating more opportunities. The 45th minute was decisive. Małecki attempted to get past a few rivals, and Adrian Mrowiec decided to make a clearance. He scooped the ball over Andrzej Bledzewski and the headed the ball towards his own goal.

In the second half, Wisła was controlling the game. Arka was ambitiously was playing very offensively, but failed to get past the strong defence by Wisła.  The White Star team was counter-attacking, however, failed to put the ball in the back of the net.
