Wisła’s finish in extra time
Data publikacji: 01-08-2011 13:00The White Star has played to a 1-1 draw with Widzew Łódź for the inauguration of the T-Mobile Ekstraklasa season.

The Wisła players showed good ball possession and quick exchange of passes, but could not finish their attacks. It was only Melikson who managed to shoot on the target in the first half of the match. Mielcarz did, however, save this attempt by fisting the ball ahead. An even better chance to score for Wisła was in the 23rd minute when Andraž Kirm played the ball along the goal line towards Tsvetan Genkov who did not manage to reach the ball at the 3rd meter.
The home team was the one to begin the second half with higher spirits. In the 55th minute, Widzew launched a counter attack with three payers against one. The ball reached Grzelak who created a one-on-one situation with Jovanić. Had it not been for a sacrifice of Nunez who chased the Widzew’s attacker and sent the ball away at the last moment, Wisła could have lost a goal. Several seconds later, Broź, the captain of the team from Łódź, made a powerful shot from a distance but it was the crossbar that saved Wisła from losing a goal. In the 67th minute Jovanić showed excellent skills in sending the ball over the crossbar after a free kick by Dudu Biton.
In the 75th minute, Jovanić saved a shot by Oziębała but had to yield to his rebound shot. Wisła had a bit of luck in the extra time. In the last attack of the match, Boguski won an air battle for the ball and passed the ball to Biton who kicked it over Mielcarz into the net.
