Wisła in semifinals!
Data publikacji: 22-03-2012 18:34Wisła Kraków defeated Lech Poznań 1-0 owing to the goal of Tsvetan Genkov in the second match of the Polish Cup quarterfinals and advanced to the next round of this competition!

The home team managed not to lose their rhythm and tried to score a goal as quickly as possible. They succeeded in the 25th minute, when Tsvetan Genkov headed the ball into the net excellently after Gervasio Nunez's pass from the right side. The away team responded with Kikut's dangerous shot in the 38th minute, but Lech's defender slightly missed the target.
The pattern of the match did not change a lot after changing the halves – both teams tried to make use of their rivals' mistakes and create a good scoring opportunity. Cracovians had the best chance in the 75th minute, but Dudu Biton lacked centimeters to intercept the ball right in front of intervening Burić. Lech did not awake until the match ending when they carried out some really promising attacks. However, luck was on the home team side that evening. Luck and Sergei Pareiko, who bounced the ball towards the crossbar in an unbelievable way in the 86th minute after Marcin Kamiński had headed it. Two minutes later Rudnevs did not take advantage of a perfect scoring opportunity, when he missed the ball and did not score being just a few meters away from the goal. Whereas Bartosz Ślusarski hit a goalpost in added time.
Despite the nervous ending, the White Star kept the lead and defeated Lech 2-0 in aggregate. Therefore Cracovians will play in the Polish Cup semifinals, and they will find out their opponents during the draw planned for 25th March.
