During the first half Wisła threatened the rival's goal mostly from the right wing which was dominated by Ivica Iliev. However, the winning goal was scored from a set-piece by Tsvetan Genkov who replaced Dudu Biton as attacker. The ball was crossed in from a corner kick, bounced up and intercepted by the Bulgarian player, who leaped for a header using the defenders' hesitation and slotted the ball in the upper corner of the goal.

Shortly after switching sides the team from Kraków was close to raising their lead to 2:0, but when Dragan Paljić passed to Rafał Boguski, he simply forwarded the ball to the rival's goalkeeper from five metres. In the 59th minute Wisła was once again close to scoring a second goal, but the ball kicked by Patryk Małecki struck the post, ricocheted off Mielcarz and just barely missed its target. A quarter before the final whistle the champions of Poland had yet another chance to score. Cezary Wilk crossed the ball in, but Dudu Biton's shot went just beside the post.
 
The visitors did not create similar goal-scoring opportunities, but mounted several dangerous counter-attacks. One such move in added time was close to an equalizer, but Jarosław Bieniuk failed to top off the counter-attack with a goal.
