Ruch Chorzów progresses to Finals after penalty shootout

Wisła Kraków managed to defeat Ruch Chorzów 3-1 in the Polish Cup rematch, but in the end it was a penalty shootout that decided who would go on to compete in the Polish Cup finals. Ruch Chorzów won the shootout 6-5.

Since Ruch won the first match 3-1, Wisła had nothing to lose and attacked from the very start. Already in the 15th minute, spectators were treated to an impressive free-kick shot by Nunez. Even though the ball went into Perdijić's goal, the referee made a controversial decision not to acknowledge it. The team from Kraków was not disheartened by this turn of events, and in the 21st minute, Genkov opened the score with a penalty shot.
Wisła recouped its losses in the 49th minute thanks to Melikson, who scored a goal from Pareiko's long pass. From that moment on, Ruch also went on the offence and both teams had several excellent opportunities, none of which were successful. Finally, in the 68th minute, Ruch scored a goal from Abbott's penalty shot.
Wisła was once again fighting for a goal, that would ensure added time. The team from Kraków kept on creating more opportunities, but had to wait for the goal until the 90th minute. After an excellent pass by Małecki from the left wing, Genkov scored his second goal with a header. Now, the finalist would emerge in added time. This fragment of the game, however, remained goalless, and a penalty shootout was announced. Ruch Chorzów turned out the better team, winning the shootout 6-5.
