Occupying the lower half of the standings, Lechia came to Kraków for a victory. Tomasz Kafarski’s team showed determination to earn three points as early as in the first quarter of the match, when they had two good opportunities to score. First, Wiśniewski missed with his shot from an excellent position, then Janicki wasted his opportunity by delivering an off-target rebound shot after a good action of his team. Wisła, who wanted to shake off the nightmare of their performance against APOEL F.C., woke up at the end of the first half but they could not seize the opportunities they had.

It was Lechia that rushed forward after the half-time break. The effects came in the 54th minute. Ivans Lukjanovs went past Junior Diaz and centred the ball from the left side above Pareiko. The ball was captured by Wiśniewski who put it into the net with just a touch. If it had not been for the goalkeeper, Wisła could have lost another goal after an attempt made by Andriuskevicius several minutes later.

Robert Maaskant’s reaction came immediately. He decided to substitute Tsvetan Genkov for Gervasio Núñez. Genkov had a perfect chance to score in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the post after his shot. Andraž Kirm’s rebound shot was off-target, too. Despite the fact that in the final minutes, the game was focused on Lechia’s half, Wisła did not manage to score an equalizer. As a result, it was Lechia who ended up with their first three-point result of the season.
