From the very first whistle of the game, the derby match was intense. Already in the 3rd minute, the referee was forced to award a yellow card. During the entire 90 minutes of the game, 13 cards were shown. Both Vladimir Boljević and Marcin Budziński from Cracovia saw two cards each. In the 70th minute, the visitors lost their first player. Budziński followed in added time.

Despite the tense competition, the game was not a spectacular sports event. Cracovia, for whom this match was a matter of life and death, tried to attack, but was ineffective. In the 50th minute, Ntibazonkiza had a good shooting position on the 16th metre, but missed the ball. In every other attempt, Sergei Pareiko came out on top.

The White Star, on the other hand, was more effective. After Gervasio Núñez was tackled on the 17th metre, Maor Melikson made a precise shot, slotting the ball in just below the crossbar of Wojciech Kaczmarek's goal. Despite a quite tense ending, the White Star did not allow the rival to score an equalizer, snatching three points and denying the opposing team any hope for staying in Ekstraklasa.
