It has been a long time since we last saw a final league round as exciting as this one. Four teams competed for the championship. Śląsk Wrocław, who came to Kraków to play against injury-stricken Wisła Kraków, was the favoured team. Three midfielders were relegated to the White Star's defence line: Tomáš Jirsák, Radosław Sobolewski and Gervasio Núñez. They were accompanied by the only able defender, Michał Czekaj.

The defence line, however, did not have much work in the first half of the match. The visitors, who needed a victory to win the championship, had only two attempts at Sergei Pareiko's goal. Even though it was Śląsk who needed the victory, it was Wisła who dominated the game.

In the second half, Wrocław scored a goal that would even up the game. The visitors managed to score from a free kick. Milan Jovanić, who substituted for injured Pareiko, was defeated by Rok Elsner. Now motivated, Orest Lenczyk's team came close to scoring a second time in the 74th minute, but Milan Jovanić snatched the ball away from approaching Sebastian Mila outside the penalty box.
For the final ten minutes of the game, Wrocław was down to ten players, as Krzysztof Wołczek was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. However, Wisła failed to use this to its advantage. In added time, Łukasz Rojewski, making his first appearance for Wisła, failed his chance to equalize. Moments later, Iliev's shot was denied by Kelemen. As a result, Śląsk Wrocław was awarded three points and the 2011/2012 season championship.
