Easter surprise in extra time

Data publikacji: 06-04-2010 11:06

Goals are scarce for Wisła on Holy Saturday.  Two years ago, the White Star held Odra to a goalless draw, and defeated Jagiellonia 1:0 last year. This year, Wisła Kraków continues in this fashion, and again wins by a single goal only. The victorious goal was scored by Łukasz Piątek and Sebastian Przyrowski in extra time!

The match against Polonia was a hard fought battle. Although ranked last in the Polish Ekstraklasa league, Polonia played against Wisła on equal terms. Polonia went on the attack and challenged the goalkeeper, Marcin Juszczyk, who substituted injured Mariusz Pawełka. Until after the break, both teams had several goal-scoring opportunities. Gołębiewski found himself in a one-on-one situation, but was not able to beat the keeper. Juszczyk managed to slightly divert the ball and Arek Głowacki kicked the ball out just before the goal line. Otherwise Polonia would have taken the lead in 25th minute,

The second half was much less exciting. The final result was decided in extra time. Łukasz Piątek withdrew the ball to Przyrowski, but it leaped up on uneven grass. The ball rolled gently into the goal, and Wisła footballers were free to celebrate Easter.
