Cvetan Genkov joins the White Star

The Bulgarian striker Cvetan Genkov has signed a contract with Wisła Kraków. As a member of Dynamo Moscow, he spent the last year on loan in Lokomotiv Sofia.

Genkov was born on 8th February 1984 in Mezdra, Bulgaria. At the age of 14, he began his career in a local football club – Lokomotiv Mezdra. In 2004, he joined Lokomotiv Sofia, where he stayed for three years. During this period, he scored 50 goals in 86 games. In the 2006/2007 season, he qualified with Lokomotiv to the UEFA Cup. The team made it to the first round but lost a two-legged tie with Feyenoord Rotterdam. With 27 goals scored in this season, Cvetan Genkov became the top scorer of the Bulgarian league.

In July 2007, Genkov moved to Dynamo Moscow. He played 37 games and scored 4 goals. After three years, Genkov returned to Lokomotiv Sofia as a loan player. In 26 games, he scored 15 goals. Cvetan Genkov was also called up to the Bulgarian national team, where he made his debut at the age of 21.
