The classic duel failed to deliver. The first half of the match played out mainly in midfield. Both teams had two perfect opportunities each, but failed to capitalise on them. In the 22nd minute, Osman Chávez was in a perfect spot, but headed the ball above the crossbar. Nacho Novo responded to Legia's attempt, but his shot landed on the top net. In the 35th minute, Wisła's goalkeeper confirmed his great form by saving Miroslav Radović's shot in a one-on-one situation. Towards the end of the first half, Maor Melikson had a chance to raise the score, but was denied by Kuciak.

Almost ten minutes into the second half, Janusz Gol saw a second yellow card, and consequently a red one, for a tackle on Łukasz Garguła. However, Wisła failed to gain the upper hand. For the final ten minutes of the match, Maciej Skorża's team was down to nine players as Artur Jędrzejczyk saw a second yellow card. Wisła proceeded to storm Legia's penalty box, but failed to find a way to the rival's goal and the match ended with a draw.
