Osman Chávez was born on 29 July 1984 in Santa Fe, in Honduras. He is a middle defender. He was trained in the youth team of the former double champion of Honduras, Platense Puerto Cortés. In 2007, we was on a one-year loan to Motagua Tegucigalpa, and later returned to Puerto Cortés.

Cháveza was called to the national team by Reinaldo Rueda and represented Honduras at the World Cup in South Africa. Chávez appeared in 11 World Cup qualifiers and all 3 of group phase games of the Honduras national team.
