A draw before the match of the decade
Data publikacji: 23-08-2011 14:14Wisła's visits to Kielce have always been exceptionally exciting sporting events and the fourth round league match between Wisła's reserves and Korona, that ended in a 0:0 draw, was no different.

With Wisła playing for advancement to the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday, it was no surprise that coach Robert Maaskant pitted his reserves against Korona Kielce. Out of the entire line-up of the Polish league champions only two players were present during Wednesday's match against APOEL F.C.: Sergei Pareiko and Júnior Díaz. Maaskant's decision to put the rookie Michał Czekaj in centre defence and Daniel Brud in the midfield came as a surprise.
Wisła's modified squad performed well in Kielce, despite several tense situations near their goal line, especially in the 22nd minute, when after a corner kick Pareiko blocked a shot in the last moment.
In the first half of the match the players from Kraków were unable to create any sure goal situations, however from the start they played actively, calmly waiting for opportunities. Such an opportunity came in the 58th minute when Diaz sent a long pass to Biton, who was free from defence but shot over the crossbar from five meters. Two minutes before halftime Korona was close to taking the lead when the ball hit the crossbar after Lisowski's free kick.
