Coach Maciej Skorża had revealed a few days prior to the match that he would field a player who doesn’t usually play on offense as a striker. Piotr Brożek turned out to be this striker. Furthermore, a central defender was fielded as a defensive midfielder – Marcelo. Despite these experiments, Wisła had the advantage from the very outset. Nevertheless, it was only after half an hour of playtime that they managed to score. Piotr Brożek passed to the ball to Junior Diaz, who relayed it on to Zieńczuk, who in turn defeated Piast’s goalie, Jakub Szmatuła, with an on-target shot from a distance of 16 meters. Junior Diaz raised the score to 2:0 before half time by taking advantage of a pass from Wojciech Łobodziński.

By the 53rd minute of the match it was already 3:0. This time Krzysztof Mączyński passed the ball to Piotr Brożek at the 16-meter mark, who placed the ball inside the net with a low shot along the ground. Unfortunately for “Pietia,” the match ended five minutes later when he was forced to leave the pitch due to an injury. Sebastian Leszczak, a debutant in Wisła’s first team, took his place.

The guests from Gliwice managed to respond with a goal in the 85th minute of the match. Marcin Juszczyk deflected Daniel Koczon’s shot straight out in front of himself, but was helpless when it came to Piotr Prędota’s shot on the rebound. Wisła didn’t wait around for their rivals to unfurl their wings. Two minutes later it was already 4:1. Marek Zieńczuk scored his second goal of the match after receiving a pass from Patryk Małecki and shooting the ball into the far corner of Jakub Szmatuła’s goal. The final score could have been even more impressive, but Łobodziński hit the goal post, while Patryk Małecki’s shot hit the side net.

In the second half of the match coach Maciej Skorża gave some of Wisła’s younger players a chance. Sebastian Leszczek, the top scorer of the Young Ekstraklasa, as well as Łukasz Burliga, Michał Jania, and Sebastian Janik all had their proverbial “five minutes.”
