2:0 against Hapoel
2:0 against Hapoel
Data publikacji: 07-07-2008 14:34Wisła emerged victorious from their first encounter with Israeli football. The White Star, which will face the Israel champion in the Champions League qualifications, defeated another team from the same league - Hapoel Tel Aviv - 2:0. Let's hope this is a good omen in the lead up to the match against Beitar Jerusalem.
Wisła dominated for virtually the entire match. The White Star’s players had possession of the ball far more than their opponents, although it was Hapoel that had the first opportunity to score, as in the 5th minute Srur received a pass and took a shot on goal from the right side of the pitch from the 16 meter mark, but the ball sailed high above the goal. After this play the White Star organized their game and only allowed their opponents to carry out a single threatening play during the first half.
Wisła took the lead in the 32nd minute under singular circumstances. Brożek nicely crossed the ball to the right to Łobodziński, who immediately tried to play the ball into the penalty area, but the ball bounced off the backs of the Israeli defenders and rolled into the goal, right past Hapoel’s totally surprised goalie. Eight minutes later it was already 2:0. Wisła perfectly executed a free kick – Jirsak played the ball into the penalty area, while Cleber freed himself from his cover so well that he was left completely unguarded and directed the ball into the net with his head.
During the second 45 minutes the White Star continued to dominate, but wasn’t able to score any additional goals. Wisła played better against Hapoel than they did in the match against Austria Vienna. Nonetheless, as coach Skorża admitted after the match, they are still short of perfection. The White Star’s next sparring matches should be even better.
