Widzew Łódź and Wisła Kraków have already met twice in this season and though the team from Łódź lost 0:1 each time, they put up a strong fight in both matches. Saturday’s event at Wisła’s stadium was no different and spectators had to wait until the end of the first half to see a goal. Just before the whistle Patryk Małecki rewarded the patience of nearly sixteen thousand supporters who came to Wisła’s stadium with a goal. Andraž Kirm passed to the penalty box from the right side of the pitch and Małecki defeated Mielcarz with a shot near the far post.

The outcome of the match was resolved in the 78th minute. After running the entire length of the pitch Maor Melikson was one on one with Maciej Mielcarz. Widzew's goalkeeper brought the midfielder down inside the penalty areas. Robert Małek, the referee, awarded Wisła a penalty, while Mielcarz saw a second yellow card and was sent off. Bartosz Kaniecki was brought in as goalkeeper, while Kirm approached the penalty mark. Kaniecki made a save against the Slovenian’s shot but Kirm managed to score with a follow-up, increasing Wisła’s lead to 2:0.
With this win Wisła's lead in the Ekstraklasa increases even more.
