Wisła Kraków have taken another huge step to win the Polish Championship. Maskant’s players carried Wisła to a 2-0 win over the second team in the table – Jagiellonia Białystok. Although the goals were scored by Andraž Kirm and Tsvetan Genkov, the man of the match was Sergei Pareiko who saved a penalty.

Jagiellonia Białystok posed a greater threat to “White Star’s” defence during set pieces but they could not seal the victory.  In the 26th minute, Wisła stroke back. Taking a free kick, Maor Melikson crossed the ball to the penalty area, and Osman Chavez headed it towards the far post. There stood Małecki who played the ball back. After Cionek’s miskick, the ball was finally kicked into the net by Andraž Kirm.

After switching sides, Wisła scored another goal in the 63rd minute. For the goalscorer, Genkov, it was the first league goal since he had joined Wisła. Played from the midfield area, the ball was ignored by Robert Arzumanyan and captured by Genkov who managed to pass one of the defenders and defeat Grzegorz Sandomierski. Earlier, after a pass from Melikson, he had kicked the ball over Jagiellonia’s goal.

Despite losing another goal, the team from Białystok did not lose spirit and carried on playing their own game. Who knows what would have happened, if Jagiellonia had taken their chance in the 76th minute and scored the penalty. The ball was hit by “Jaga’s” sniper, Frankowski, but Pareiko managed to save his shot with loud cheers from fans.
