To prove our value

This season, the White Star players have not found a way to beat Jagiellonia Białystok yet. The first game ended with a draw 0-0, then they lost 0-2 and now they are going to Podlasie hoping for the first victory over the current vice-leader.

The Sunday match will be the 31st clash between these two teams in Poland’s top football league. In March, Wisła Kraków were not able to win in Białystok and thereby to end their losing streak of three away games against Jagiellonia.

The struggle in the championship round Ireneusz Mamrot’s players started from third position, with 4 points behind the leader. Then, they moved up one position, whilst Wisła Krakow still close the ranking with 12-point loss to Jagiellonia.

The beginning of the crucial phase of the competition was not lucky for Jagiellonia since they lost 1-2 to Górnik Zabrze. Nevertheless, already in the next round they came back on track beating Korona Kielce 3-0.

Crazy match

May is high school final exams time, so it is a good chance to mention the match played on May 6th, 2016. It was an intense day for Jagiellonia goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski who in the morning took one of his A-level exams and in the evening had to help his team in the clash against Wisła Kraków. Although he was in the line-up, he did not manage to save his team from the defeat and the White Star achieved a victory thanks to the goal of the hero of that game – Paweł Brożek.

In minute 24, a great counterattack was started by Rafał Boguski who first, raced half of the pitch and then made a perfect pass to Patryk Małecki who delivered the ball with a cross from the left at Brożek’s head. The White Star striker had no other choice than to put it into the net.

The Sunday game in Białystok starts at 18:00 and we hope that when the referee blows the final whistle, Wisła players will have reasons to celebrate!
