The White Stat still in the game
Published: 16-12-2011 14:46Before the match against Twente there was no room for calculations – only a win against the group leader would ensure that the team from Kraków advances to the next round. Even though at the moment of the final whistle the home team was out of the European tournament, that day Wisła's stadium would be overcome with joy. Odense managed to equalise against Fulham, and so the team from Kraków is still in the game!

The White Star quickly took the lead. Garguła attacked by himself and shot from the corner of the penalty box. Marsman barely touched the ball which landed in the back of the net. The goal upped Wisła's confidence. The home team played more wisely than in the first minutes and was closer to increasing the lead than the Dutch were to equalising.
In the 39th minute Pareiko was left defenceless. After a set piece Jong scored a beautiful goal, defeating Wisła's goalkeeper with a bicycle kick.
Despite efforts by both teams, the first half ended with a draw. This would soon change. The visitors came back from their locker room disorganized and Pareiko's long kick completely took them by surprise. Genkov beat the defender and scored the second goal.
All that was left for Wisła was to wait for good news from London. These came after the match in Kraków had already ended. Odense managed to equalise in the last minutes of the match against Fulham, which meant one thing – Wisła is still in the game!
