Stolarczyk: We missed the last touch

Published: 23-07-2018 12:20

Maciej Stolarczyk’s first league game as Wisła head coach ended in a 0-0 draw with Arka Gdynia. Although the team from Cracow looked better, it was not enough to get the three points. However, Stolarczyk indicates a few positives to feel good about.

This is what the coach said in the post-match press conference:

on the match…
I am not happy with the result because we wanted to win the game at any cost. Still, I would like to congratulate my team on their attitude, since the elements we paid attention to during the trainings, in the majority, functioned as planned. We missed only the last touch and this leaves us unsatisfied. We had a few chances and if we had taken the advantage of one of them, that could have opened the match.

on taking the penalty kick…
It was me who decided that Rafał should take it. He did it well during the week. Taking penalties is a lottery and anyone could fail. I don’t blame him.

on Dawid Kort…
I am glad with his performance. He did a good job. He was engaged in the game and implemented the tactics.

on attacking formation…
It was a match without a goal but I keep saying that I want to spread the responsibility for goals on. In this game Zdenek didn’t have good occasions but he was an important element of the game’s organization. I see the team’s strength in the ability of creating opportunities for the whole team.
