Podbeskidzie wins after a draw

Wisła Kraków has ended their adventure with the Polish Cup in the quarter-finals. They drew 2-2 with Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała in their rematch, despite leading 2-0. This way, the team from Bielsko-Biała won the two-legged tie and are through to the semi-finals.

The first minutes of the rematch were dominated by the home team who controlled the game. Then, Wisła took over. After 24 minutes of the game, Małecki played into the penalty area and Demjan put the ball into his own net. The goal clearly disheartened the home team, bringing life to Wisła who took the initiative.

In the second half, the match was even more exciting. After a pass from Melikson, Genkov scored to 2-0. Four minutes later, Robert Maaskant’s team could score another goal. During a counter attack launched by Wisła with four against two, Małecki played to Rios whose shot was blocked in the last moment by Konieczny.

In the 59th minute, Wisła’s opponents had their revenge. Coming onto the pitch a couple of minutes earlier, Cieśliński scored to 2-1. With Podbeskidzie still on a roll in the 75th minute, Górkiewicz scored an equalizer for the team from Bielsko-Biała.
During next 15 minutes, Wisła created several opportunities to score but finally had to acknowledge the superiority of their opponents.
