With Łukasz Burliga absent due to yellow cards, Dariusz Dudka took on the role of right defender. Arkadiusz Głowacki, who complained of injuries in the middle of the week, and Paweł Brożek also played from the start of the game, as did Łukasz Garguła who scored the last goal in the derby.

The visitors made a better start - the team from Kraków produced more successful passes and remained in possession of the ball. Their first goal scoring opportunity came in the 5th minute - after a tackle on Štilić, the referee awarded a free kick on the 35th metre. Dariusz Dudka took a powerful shot, but Lechia’s goalkeeper managed to deflect the ball. During the next several minutes of play, the ball hardly left midfield and neither side was able to create a goal scoring opportunity.

In the 20th minute, Bartosz Kaniecki, the rival team’s goalkeeper, left the pitch due to an injury. Mateusz Bąk took his place.

A quarter before halftime, Wisła’s goal was in danger. In the commotion created after a free kick cross, Tuszyński attempted to surprise Michał Miśkiewicz with a header from inside the penalty box. The White Star’s goalkeeper blocked the ball to the side, averting danger.

Wisła responded several minutes later. After a nice display of one-touch football, Štilić got a great pass inside the penalty box. However, his low left-foot shot was stopped by Bąk and, with Paweł Brożek unable to deliver a follow up, the team had to settle for a corner kick. For the remainder of the first half, there were no more scoring opportunities and the score was nil-nil.

Wisła started the second half with a nice attempt. At first, it seemed that Paweł Brożek’s pass would not reach Łukasz Garguła inside the penalty box, but the player got to the ball and made a nice, albeit inaccurate shot. Lechia responded only a minute later with a precise through ball to Tuszyński. Lechia’s striker lobbed over Głowacki but then sent the ball high above the crossbar.

In the 55th minute, the visitors were saved by a stroke of luck. Makuszewski ran into the penalty box and sent a powerful right-foot shot which, fortunately for the rival, struck the post. Seven minutes later, Stojan Vranješ sent a strong kick from outside the penalty area but Miśkiewicz superbly deflected the ball to the side. Paweł Brożek responded with a shot after an excellent pass from Garguła but the ball went past the far post of Mateusz Bąk’s goal.

In the 76th minute, there was once again commotion near Wisła’s goal. It all started with a dangerous cross from Vranješ, forcing Miśkiewicz to leave the goal line and fist the ball away. Tuszyński intercepted the ball inside the penalty box but his accurate kick was blocked by Kraków’s defenders.

Six minutes before the final whistle, all of Gdańsk gasped in disbelief, as Pietrowski wasted a perfect opportunity from the 11th metre after a fantastic low pass from Makuszewski from the right side. Just before the final whistle, Štilić was close to scoring but his shot went over the crossbar. Moments later, referee Paweł Pskit ended the game with both sides disappointed in the goalless draw.
