Mitrovic: We lost control of the match

Published: 18-04-2018 12:30

The White Star team did not manage to win in Płock and came back to the capital of Małopolska not entirely satisfied. After the game, Nikola Mitrović said that the team should have guaranteed the three points already in the first 45 minutes.

In the first half players from Kraków imposed their style and played football that was pleasing to watch. ‘In my opinion, we should have killed the game in the first half. Then, the only task for the next 45 minutes would be to keep playing our football and maintain possession’ – started Mitrović. ‘I don’t know what happened after the half-time. We lost control and let the rival play its football. The consequences could be seen immediately – they scored a goal after our mistake. From then on, we didn’t play the same way as we did during the first 45 minutes. The match ended in a draw 2-2, though we had a chance to reach for victory’ – continued the midfielder.

Loss of domination

As an answer to the question about the reasons of change in the way of playing, Mitrović said: ‘It is hard to explain and I have no idea why it happened. No one expected such a course of action after the first half, where we looked better than our rival. Unfortunately, the game lasts 90 minutes and not only 45, therefore we should have done everything we could to play the whole match in the same way and dictate our own terms’.

Show strength against Legia

Next Sunday Wisła is going to play on its own stadium against Legia, a team that lost in the last encounter in front of their supporters. ‘We must prove that we are a team and we are looking to repeat the same result as one month ago. In that game, we showed the same character as today, in the first half. We are a good team and our job is to prove it from the very beginning until the last minute of the game. If we impose our philosophy of playing, we will be able to compete with everyone’ – concluded Nikola Mitrović.
