Missed opportunities… Wisła K. 1-1 Wisła P.

Published: 13-08-2018 14:25

Last Friday, Wisła Kraków for the third time this season played at their own stadium. The match against Wisła Płock ended in a 1-1 draw. Despite having dominated on the pitch, the White Star got only one point after a goal from Zdenek Ondrašek.

After a defeat in Białystok, Wisła Kraków wanted badly to make up for it in the match against Wisła Płock, that didn’t manage to win this season. Wisła Kraków line-up almost didn’t differ from the one that we could see in the last games. The only change was Mateusz Lis replacing Michał Buchalik that was suspended for a red card.

Czech forward strikes again

From the very beginning, the White Star were controlling the game and the rivals limited to counterattacks that, however, didn’t bring much effect. Maciej Stolarczyk’s men had many chances to score, among others, Jesús Imaz that headed the ball minimally outside the post or Patryk Małecki whose kick was hardly saved by Wisła Płock goalkeeper. However, their efforts were successful a few minutes later. Rafał Boguski passed the ball to Ondrašek and the Czech forward hit the bar with a beautiful volley and the ball found its way into the net.

Wisła Płock's "answer"

The second half started with a dangerous rivals’ action, however it didn’t end with a goal. After a couple of similar situations, the White Star players were close to extending the advantage but first, Bartkowski’s volley was saved by the goalkeeper and then, Ondrašek got a pass from Imaz but he was already in an offside position. A few moments later, Wisła Płock started a counterattack and Mateusz Lis didn’t have any chance to save the ball headed by Ricardinho. Three minutes later, a Wisła Płock defender got the second yellow card and had to get off the pitch. However, it didn’t help the team from Cracow to score one more goal and, in consequence, win the game.
