Kimura was born on 14 May 1984 in the Japanese city of Kobe. His first club was Kawasaki Frontale, but he quickly left for the USA to continue his football career there. In 2007 he was drafted for the MLS, becoming the first Japanese player to join the American league.

He stayed with the Colorado Rapids for six years, appearing in 123 games. In 2010 Kimura helped his club win the league championship, scoring a winning goal in the semi-finals. During the 2012 season, he joined the Portland Timbers where he played 17 games.

Kimura usually plays as right back, but can also fill in as right midfielder. In the coming days, his abilities will be evaluated by Wisła's management.
