28,476 fans came to see the game. This was the biggest turn up in a game against the “Stripes” since the 1982/1983 season, when 27 thousand fans attended.

The first shot on goal by Wisła came in the 4th minute, when Sarki kicked from outside the penalty box. However, Pilarz managed to catch the ball. During the first 10 minutes of the game, the ball barely left midfield. In the 11th minute, Stjepanović sent a through ball to Paweł Brożek, but the pass was intercepted by the rivals. Moments later, commotion inside the rival’s penalty box gave “Brozio” and then Chrapek a chance to shoot, but both attempts were blocked.

In the 17th minute, after a cross from Stjepanović, Głowacki made a header but missed the goal. Six minutes later, Štilić’s strong kick was stopped by Nykiel. Less than four minutes later, Cracovia’s Ntibazonkiza kicked from outside the penalty box. The winger’s attempt was, however, very inaccurate. Sarki was very active on the right side, always attempting attacks.

Wisła took the lead in the 33th minute. Štilić crossed from a free kick on the right and Głowacki slotted the ball in with a header. Moments later, Guerrier attempted a header but the shot was too weak to defeat Pilarz. Franciszek Smuda’s team wanted to raise the lead as quickly as possible. They succeeded in the 39th minute. Paweł Brożek sent a superb ball to Štilić and the Bosnian fooled Cracovia’s defence and defeated Pilarz with a low ball. Moments later, the same player came close to raising the score even further. His individual attempt was topped off with a beautiful shot but Pilarz managed a superb save.

From the very beginning of the second half, the White Star stormed Pilarz’s goal. Paweł Brożek had a great opportunity after Chrapek’s pass but missed the goal. Moments later Pilarz stopped a low shot from Wisła’s striker. Less than a minute later, Štilić tried to lob, but the goalkeeper was alert.
In the 58th minute, Ntibazonkiza delivered a nice cross but Bojlević was unable to reach the ball. Ten minutes later, Wisła’s returning Dariusz Dudka substituted for Sarki. Shortly after, Guerrier decided on an individual attempt. Unfortunately, instead of passing to Paweł Brożek, he sent the ball off target.

In the 73rd minute, Ntibazonkiza produced a dangerous shot. Fortunately for Wisła, Miśkiewicz was alert. Two minutes later, in an identical play, the visitor’s winger managed to slot the ball in. In the 81st minute, Dudka produced a header but the shot was too weak to defeat Pilarz. Four minutes later, Wisła deflected the ball from the goal line and later Miśkiewicz stopped Straus’s shot aimed below the crossbar.

Cracovia was on the offence but it was the White Star who scored. Garguła defeated Pilarz with a precise shot. This was possible thanks to Guerrier’s superb interception.
