Club's statement

Published: 20-03-2019 10:46

Wisła Kraków have always strongly opposed all expressions of anti-Semitism and xenophobia. On the contrary, the club have fought against nationalist intolerance and racism. Everyone associated with the club want to actively spread the historical truth and knowledge putting the emphasis on education of both nations, Polish and Jewish, regarding the tragic common history.

The video broadcasted in social media is a manipulation damaging the club's good name. The unacceptable and blameworthy behavior of few Wisła fans, that was not a part of the organized team support, constituted a response to Cracovia fans' provocation, who despite the organizers' lack of consent, brought in and displayed a flag with reference to the hooligan group "Jude Gang". It was followed by usage of forbidden and dangerous pyrotechnics. At the same time, they set fire to the materials brought to the stadium and demolished the sport facility.

Thanks to the efforts of Wisła Kraków SA, the Cracow derby, which took place on March 17th, 2019, at the Henryk Reyman Municipal Stadium, was one of the safest and most peaceful football matches between these two oldest teams in Poland in recent years. That is the opinion confirmed by security control bodies at stadiums, as well as by media representatives.

Wisła Kraków SA intend to actively educate their supporters in order to finally eliminate any undesirable behavior on the stands. For this purpose, it is planned, among others, to support financially an information campaign organized with the competent institutions.
