Carrillo: the team should go in the same direction

Published: 27-04-2018 18:20

On the press conference before the away clash with the vice-leader Jagiellonia Białystok, the coach Joan Carrillo talked about preparations and the next rival. ‘It was a productive week and still there is one training left. We hope this work will translate into what we will show in Białystok’.

Answering the question about motivation for the last phase of the season: ‘If there is a chance to qualify for European competitions, we will try to exploit it to the maximum. First, because we are professionals and second, because our fans deserve it, especially for the support they showed on the match against Legia. Also, we need to go step by step, match by match’ – he added.

Be loyal to our philosophy of the game

Previous encounters against Jagiellonia have not been easy. ‘Recently, Jagiellonia have had some problems playing at home but the last game proved that they are an interesting team with fast players. We need to break their defense and be faithful to our own idea of the game’.

If there will be any changes comparing to the last match between these two teams. ‘For sure, the line-up will change, since Matej Palčič got injured and Pol Llonch and Jakub Bartkowski will be back after their suspension for yellow card accumulation. We should stick to our philosophy and the whole team need to go in the same direction’ – declared the coach.

Problem with injuries

On the list of injured players there are still quite many names. Maciej Sadlok keeps having Achilles problems and Matej Palčič needs a three or four-week break due to biceps femoris injury. The players who trained individually were Iván González and Vullnet Basha. To conclude, Petar Brlek suffers from fever. A good news is that it was the first day when Arkadiusz Głowacki trained with the team after his injury.

In the clash with Legia, Martin Košťál replaced Matej Palčič and played as a right-back. ‘It wasn’t a spontaneous decision, Martin was prepared for such a situation and he did all his best’ – ended the White Star coach Joan Carrillo.
