Carrillo: The team is ready to fight

Published: 06-05-2018 10:00

This Sunday, Joan Carrillo’s players are to face another away test against Korona Kielce at Kolporter Arena, where they have not managed to win since 2013.

The season is coming to its end. The Spanish coach’s team long for achieving the maximum number of points possible. ‘We’re in the midst of a play-off. We have talked with the players that there are only four games left and we are preparing for them with a full commitment. We have worked the whole week and I am sure the team is ready for the fight during 90 minutes’ - started the coach Carrillo.

Before the Sunday clash, both teams have 48 points. ‘Our goal is to play one game at a time, so we are not looking at the table. We will have time for counting points later’ - continued.

Without injured players

The players that still struggle with injuries are Maciej Sadlok, Matej Palcić, Arkadiusz Głowacki and Michał Buchalik. Vullnet Basha and Ivan Goznalez started to train with the team. Due to a yellow card suspension, the player that will not be able to help the team will be Nikola Mitrović. Probably, in his place we will see Tibor Halilović or Petar Brlek.

Difficult rival

What distinguishes the team of Korona is the fierceness on the pitch. ‘We know their qualities. They are physically strong and can be especially dangerous in the air and set pieces. The defensive players are compact and like to play in an aggressive way. That is why they are among first eight teams’ - said the coach.

Legends farewell

The journalists present at the pre-match press conference asked about Arkadiusz Głowacki and Paweł Brożek and the decision of not extending their contracts. ‘It wasn’t a decision made from one day to another. Both players are professionals and deserve respect and the farewell they are going to have during the match against Lech’ - told Joan Carrillo.

‘Pawka’ has played 396 official matches for Wisła. Answering the question about him playing in the last games: ‘It is one of the possiblities we have. Paweł has had an exceptional career and he doesn’t need these four additional games to prove his value. We are lucky to have had him in our team and both, Paweł and Arek, deserve respect’.
