Bulgarians defeated with goals scored by a Bulgarian
Published: 28-06-2011 17:00In their first sparring match held in the Netherlands, Wisła defeated PFC Litex Lovech, the winner of the Bulgarian league, with 2-1 result. Both goals for the White Star were scored by Bulgarian Tsvetan Genkov.

From the very beginning, it was clear that both teams had similar capabilities. However, it was the White Star that seemed to play better in the first half. In the attack, Melikson had several rallies with one opportunity after another but he lacked the finish. Furthermore, with Wisła being very cautious in the defence, Litex players found it difficult to get to Wisła’s penalty area. However, a single mistake was enough for the team from Kraków to lose a goal. Knocked away by Pareiko, the ball reached Jovanović. He made a mistake and passed the ball straight to Nikolov who did not waste the opportunity being one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
The White Star scored the equalizer in the 31st minute. The goal was scored by Genkov after a corner kick. He soared into the air and hit the ball with his head. The final blow, as it turned out later, was delivered by Wisła just after the break. A forward pass was reached by Iliev who passed the ball towards Genkov. Genkov entered the penalty area and defeated Aleskandov by sending the ball in the long corner of the goal. After this goal, Wisła began to play more cautiously in the defence without putting too much of effort into attacks. Wisła’s defensive style turned out to be enough to prevent Litex from creating even a single scoring opportunity.
