Bartkowski: Unsatisfying draw

Published: 18-04-2018 14:03

Wisła Kraków drew 2-2 with their namesake team from Płock. The White Star took the lead twice but a goal by Alan Uryga and an own goal of Tomasz Cywka imposed them to gain the three points. Jakub Bartkowski, author of the first goal, regrets on such a course of action.

A lot of things happened in this match. I am glad that I scored a goal but the three points would be more important. Unfortunately, we did not manage to win and no one can be satisfied with a draw’ – admitted Jakub Bartkowski on his way to the club bus.

Supporters can be glad

Both teams concentrated their efforts on attacking and fought to reach for victory. Less tactics, more passion – supporters had to enjoy these proportions. ‘Our fans could be glad because it was a good game to watch: four goals, and both teams could have scored more, many chances. I only wish we had tipped the balance and had won the game’ – said Wisła Kraków defender.

This rival played in a totally different way than the last opponent – Sandecja. And as a defender admitted himself, the White Star team liked it better. ‘Wisła Płock played with the ball, presented open football and it was easier to use our skills than the last time. We prefer strategies where we can go blow for blow’.

Help in the offensive situations

It was the second time this season Bartkowski scored a goal and the second time he did it after a set piece. ‘We did not train this way of taking a free-kick. I was instructed to be close to the far post. The week before the match I talked to the set piece coach and I suggested him that I could take part in offensive actions, that I could be useful. In the half-time, we were happy that this move helped the team’ – said the player who reaffirmed his place in the first squad.

However, the next game he will have to watch from the stands, as he got suspended for yellow card accumulation. ‘I hope the coach will keep giving me chances. It seems that he believes in me and I do my best to repay his trust’ – believes the 26-year-old player.

Now Wisła Kraków is to play against Legia Warszawa, which is in crisis. The White Star players promise to fight, not only in the next encounter. ‘We are not playing only to finish the season. Our goal is to improve our position in the table because the season is not over. There are six games left and in each of them we will be concentrated and militant-minded’ – concluded Bartkowski.
