Wisła draws goalless tie in Chicago

Wisła Kraków drew a goalless tie against Chicago Fire in a friendly match played at the Toyota Park stadium. Wisła played one man down for most of the second half of the match after Diaz received a red card.

Tomasz Frankowski played from the start for the home side, and was also the captain of his team.

Wisła was close to taking the lead in the first half of the match, but was unable to take advantage of the opportunities they created as Małecki, Zieńczuk, and Cleber all failed to score. The tough struggle between the two teams during the first 45 minutes led to Piotr Brożek having to leave the pitch due to sustaining an injury.

The match became even rougher during the second half. Junior Diaz was brutally fouled by an opposing player. The referee, however, did not punish the home side’s player with a yellow card, which generated loud protest among the players sitting on Wisła’s bench. Cantoro subsequently also received a yellow card for arguing with the referee. The situation on the pitch became tense in the 55th minute of the match. Diaz fouled one of Chicago Fire’s players and a small disturbance broke out. Junior Diaz received a red card, and consequently the White Star’s team was forced to play one man down.

Despite this fact, four minutes later Wisła could have taken the lead after Paulista passed Chicago Fire’s left defender, entered the penalty area, and took a shot on goal that was just short of being on target.

Despite playing ambitiously, Wisła was unable to score a goal and the match ended in an outcome of 0:0.
