Shum: We'll do our best to qualify

Exclusive: Beitar's manager Itzhak Shum tells us what he know about Polish football and what he would like to keep secret before confrontation with Wisla!

Head coach of Beitar said that he is quite familiar with  Polish football.”I do follow after the Polish football and even few Polish players were previously proposed to me to join our team. As I see it, a team which won its domestic league with  such difference after achieving 77 points of 90, must be a very good team. I do regard highly such achievement and the way it was performed, and that is why we all give the Polish team the appropriate respect and will do our best to qualify to the next round in both matches against it” – he said.

We asked Mr. Shum, if he agrees with sentence that Israeli League made some serious progress in last year. “I do agree with the sentence as far as it concerns the local Israeli teams, such as Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Tel Aviv who made lately quite good achievements in the European competitions. Besides that, some high level foreign players have joined the Israeli league during the past few years, which raise its level. On the contrary, our national team hasn't succeeded yet to qualify to important tournaments, which leaves us mostly with a progress at the domestic level” – replied.

There is no favorite in match between Wisla and Beitar. Itzhak Shum didn’t want to say, what is his biggest advantage in struggle for Champions League 3rd qualifying round. “As far as to the advantages or disadvantages my team might have during the 3rd qualifying round, I rather to keep them to myself” – he said.

Special thanks to Beitar Jerusalem Sports Club for assistance with that interview.
