This was the second time this month that Wisła Kraków played against Ruch Chorzów. Although the White Star confidently won the first match 2:0, which had been held in Kraków at the beginning of November, this time around the match in Chorzów was much more even. The first part of the match between Ruch and Wisła was uneventful. None of the teams were able to create a 100% goal-scoring opportunity, although the White Star was closer to doing so. It was with the utmost difficulty that Krzysztof Pilarz – the home team’s goalie – managed to deflect a long-distance shot by Mauro Cantoro.

Ruch went on the offense with greater verve during the second half of the match. In the 52nd minute Tomasz Brzyski landed a shot in the side net. Eight minutes later Marcin Zając attempted to defeat Pawełek after exchanging a pass in the penalty area and shooting at a sharp angle, but the ball went just wide of the goal post. Wisła gained some steam with the appearance of Tomas Jirsak and Rafał Boguski on the pitch. The guests’ plays became livelier, with the ball circulating more rapidly between Wisła’s players. Unfortunately, the effect of this was minimal as the passes were more often bad than not. The team came closest to scoring in the 72nd minute when Tomas Jirsak broke free on the left flank and crossed the ball into the penalty area to Paweł Brożek, who was just centimeters short of reaching the ball and sending it into the net.

This wasted opportunity took its revenge in the 78th minute. Michał Pulkowski took advantage of a chaotic situation in Wisła’s penalty area following a corner kick to direct the ball into the goal. A few seconds later it could have been 2:0, but Pawełek cleared the ball for a corner kick following a shot by Artur Sobiech from a distance of just a few meters. Wisła was unable to even the score and it was Ruch Chorzów that ended up taking home three points.
