Wisła began the match with a strong lineup. The only players missing were those suffering from injuries and Mariusz Pawełek, who rested this time around. Coach Skorża tested Junior Diaz as a central midfielder as he’s considering the player for the position to replace the injured Radosław Sobolewski.

The first to score were the Swiss, who took the lead in the 20th minute of the match. Derdiyok decided on a long-distance shot that landed right inside the goal post, leaving Cebanu with no chance of saving the shot. A few minutes later, the White Star’s goalie showed what he’s capable of. Basel should have raised the score in the 26th minute, but Cebanu stopped a shot taken by Zanni from within the penalty area. Wisła’s carried out their best play in the 34th minute of the match. Beto passed the ball to Paweł Brożek, who relayed it on to Zieńczuk, with Wisła’s wingman powering the ball just outside the goalpost.

What didn’t work out in the first half finally did during the second part of the math. The White Star evened the score in the 50th minute of the match. Jirsak crossed the ball from a free kick, with Cleber scoring the goal with a header. Later on, it was Wisła that came closer to victory, but the team was unable to cap off one of their good plays with an effective shot. Mauro Cantoro came closest to scoring when he headed the ball over the cross bar following a pass from Małecki. Wisła even received some applause for this play from a small group of Swiss fans gathered at the stadium.

Wisła’s next sparring match awaits them on Tuesday. This time coach Skorża’s players will face Shakhtar Donetsk. Like the previous sparring matches this one is also scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
