1:1 Against FC Koper As Well

Wisła tied 1:1 for the second sparring match in a row. This time the White Star quickly scored, but was unable to confirm its dominance with further goals.

Wisła took the lead in the 4th minute of the match. Dawidowski converted a corner kick cross executed by Zieńczuk into a goal with a head shot. Wisła thus gained an advantage but was unable to create more goal-scoring opportunities. In the meantime, the Slovenians took advantage of Wisła’s relaxed tempo and began to carry out ever more threatening attacks. The most active player on the opposing side was Amusen, who made use of technical tricks in an attempt to lose the White Star’s defenders. In the 29th minute of the match his shot flew right above the crossbar of Juszczyk’s goal, while two minutes before the end of the first half he scored an assist. Amusen passed the ball from the right side to Bożicić, who closed the play by packing the ball into the net.

Paweł Brożek strengthened the force of Wisła’s offense during the second half of the match. If he had taken advantage of one of the three very good goal-scoring opportunities he had, Wisła would have won the match. Instead, “Brozio” missed three times. The White Star’s other players also had some very good opportunities to give their team the lead. Zieńczuk failed to take advantage of a one-on-one situation, Diaz was unable to finish off a nice play collectively carried out by the team, while Boguski’s volley shot was deflected over the crossbar by FC Koper’s goalie, with Kmiecik and Szabat’s head shots likewise passing above the crossbar.

The Slovenians also had their chance to score, with their most threatening play coming in the 59th minute. Bożicić passed the ball to the right to Amusan, who forcefully crossed the ball into the penalty area, where his team partner was just centimeters away from intersecting the ball. Three minutes later Djukić decided to take a shot from 20 meters, but Juszczyk was able to nicely knock the ball to the side.

This was Wisła’s last sparring match during their training camp in Bad Waltersdorf. The White Star won one match, lost one match, and tied two matches. Wisła both scored and lost 5 goals.
